The Light that Remains

I feel heavy. A sadness swept over me. Life is short. We know not the day, nor the hour. A world in turmoil. A pain in my soul. The candle is burning low. This will all be over one way or another. I seek your peace. A peace the world couldn't give. You have eternity in your hands. When the lights of the world go out - Your light remains. Light of the world Take my burdens. Light of the world  Though days are numbered fill them with love. Light of the world  We will see you soon enough. Light of the world You still calm the raging sea! Light of the world  Your light is eternal. Your peace is eternal. You are eternal. Your light remains. Amen.

The still small voice

"And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice." - 1 Kings 19:10,11 The Still Small Voice: God was in the still small voice. In my travels I have encountered worship styles that are so varied. Lately I have been thinking of the loud nature of much worship in contemporary churches (both preaching and song). Whilst not being opposed to this style I have found that at times it has been draining. It may be my inner introvert or it may simply just be that the season of loud is over for me at this time. Either way it seems that my heart yearns for the calm, the gentle, the peaceful. It reminds me of verses in Kings that

Who has all answers?  The faithful answer is that  I just don't know?  Free Will and The Light All pilgrims suffer daily Worship God anyway Not a twisted king   Absolute power hungry Micro managing  Free will is our choice Humans, angels, and demons Creatures and nature  Yes, troubles will come  Not all use free will for good   Lasting negatives World variables  There are good things and bad War: light and darkness Troubles since the Fall Freely, wilfully humans sin Treking east of Eden It's not all judgement Who sinned, man or parents? Born blind for His work Tool of redemption  Not suffering judgement  Jesus eye opener  Light of the world Miraculously heals a man.  Was blind, but now I see. Where is Hope? The Saviour:"Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand." The Martyr: "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." The Prophet: "The Kings of the earth are a vanity, the nations are as a drop in a bucket." The Charlatan and Jester: "Make the mortal vanity and dust of empire great again. We are the greatest" wink, wink, nudge, nudge. The Saints: "His kingdom come." The Sinners: "All hail the wind", grasp, grasp, grasp. The Philosopher: "Are we looking to earthly authorities and powers or above?" The Saviour: "My kingdom is not of this world... all authority in heaven and in earth has been given to me...heaven and earth pass away, but my word is forever." Our eyes they look like galaxies. We are only guests on this earth for a short time. Dust blowing in the sands of time. Vapour that appears for a time, but fades away. For such a time as this let us live and love in the light of these truths. Take each moment as a gift. How lightly we must tread this fine line between life and death. Honour life's fleeting nature in the light of eternity. Do not be indecisive in this life of brevity. To decide not to decide is to decide already.  Let your yay be yay and nay be nay. Choose now who you will serve. The one who calms our every fear or the one who uses it as a weapon? That dream God put on your heart, but fear stopped you, all those what ifs, just feel the fear and do it anyway. Progress is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to walk through it. As we recognise God is our refuge and guide we begin to see we need not be anxious for he has overcome the world. The fear fades in the light of his eternity. He is a lamp unto our feet

See Beauty

As I look out the window... At a glance the phrase "What a miserable day" would be normality. Grey sky, grey buildings, dirty old cars. But, then if one looks closer it is so different.  In the midst of grey and dirt is beauty. In the distance trees that have lost leaves blow gently in the wind. Then there are pine trees and bushes full of a huge variety of different greens, all thriving on the rainy weather. As they find nourishment so does my pen.  Closer I see someone has hung purple and pink flowers by their front door. How do they thrive at this time of year? Are they real? I question myself.  Standing close by a weather beaten shed is consumed by vines and greenery. Nature sometimes takes over where man has been.  Much closer to the window is a hedge and then a ramp. The fence on the ramp is covered in yellow flowers. Yellow is my favourite colour. So bright, so vibrant.  If we look hard enough we can see beauty, if we just allow ourselves.  As I look out the window. Wh
