Welcome to the Forest Parish

A Place of Hearth, Home, and Holy Ground

Dear friends in Christ,

Welcome to this clearing in the woods. Just as the forest offers shelter to all and the hearth provides warmth to the weary, I hope this space serves as a sanctuary for your spirit.

There are many voices in the world, but here is the rhythm of my own heart and ministry—a way of life rooted in the ancient soil of the Gospel and the quiet light of the home fire.

The Three Great Trees: A Foundation of Faith

In my journey, three truths stand like ancient oaks, providing shelter and strength:

  1. The Living Word: Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh. Apart from Him, the true God cannot be fully known. In Jesus, we see the face of a God who is Love, and whose Gospel is the path of Peace.
  2. The Gift of Grace: Salvation is found by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, for the glory of God alone. Like the rain that falls on the forest floor, grace is a gift—unearned, refreshing, and life-giving.
  3. The Way of Love: It is our joy and obligation to follow Him. Though we may stumble through the undergrowth of our human frailty, our compass is set toward holiness. We hold to the "Golden Rules": to love God and to love one another—even our enemies. This is the active, lived faith that heals the world.

These are the pillars of my path: the deity of Christ, salvation through Him, and a life of obedience to His Word. I invite you to rest by this fire and consider: how do these truths resonate within your own soul?

Ten Embers: A Glimpse into My Journey

Beyond the theology, here are ten small lights that help define who I am and how I walk through the world:

  • I am neurodivergent (Autistic). I see the intricate patterns of God’s creation through a unique lens.
  • I am a follower of Jesus. He is my North Star, or more accurately the Morning Star.
  • I am a seeker of Peace. I stand with the Red Letter Christians and the peace-makers.
  • I dwell in Scotland. My faith is nourished by the wild landscapes and Celtic saints.
  • I am a creature of the woods. I find the Divine in the rustle of leaves and the open air.
  • I am a poet. I capture the thoughts through free verse.
  • I work in the wild. My daily life is spent in an outdoor nursery, teaching under the open sky.
  • I advocate for the "Different." I have a deep heart for those with Additional Support Needs (ASN).
  • I am not always right, I am still learning.

About the Logo Below

This symbol, kindly created by Spectrum Sloth, brings together the infinity symbol of neurodiversity and the Christian CND flag. It represents a commitment to a world where every mind is honored and every life is lived in peace. Just as these symbols are shared freely in the public domain, so too is the invitation to join in this work of reconciliation.

I hope this introduction helps you find your footing here. May you find warmth at the hearth and wonder in the forest.

Peace from the Forest Parish, and that of Hearth and Home,

David
