Mencap Gateway Bronze Award – Week 14 Weekly Evidence Checklist
1. Volunteering – Walk for Autism
Completed previously. ✅
2. Fitness – Nature Walk
Evidence:
Getting outside and connecting with nature is something I find genuinely grounding.
3. Hobby – The Digital Parish & Daily Office
This week's hobby evidence continues to come in the form of prayer, though using the Northumbria Community Office less. I've been documenting my faith reflections here on the blog as I go, which ties in beautifully with this Digital Parish project.
4. Personal Challenge
Previously submitted. ✅
5. Lifestyle – Sensory & Advocacy
This covers a lot of ground, and this week felt particularly full in the best way.
On the sensory side, I'm continuing to manage daily regulation using my Squiggle Society and other art supplies, fidgets, and planned sensory snacks.
The Finch app has also been a really helpful tool for keeping up with routines — small steps, but they add up. Currently on a 90 day streak.
This week I also started doing black ink art, which has quickly become something I love. There's something about the simplicity and boldness of black ink that really works for me.
A few highlights from this week:
I officially signed my little girl up to Bright Sparks ASN group, which I'm really pleased about. She's autistic, and finding the right spaces for her is always something I put a lot of thought and care into. This feels like a good fit.
We also returned to our old church in town and found they now have a sensory room. Which was a win for two of our little ones.
I also downloaded Autipocket, an app designed specifically to support autistic people. I'm still exploring it, but it looks genuinely useful for day-to-day life.
And I had my Health in Mind one-to-one this week, which was a positive session and good for my overall wellbeing.
That's week 14 done. On to week 15.
