April fools day?
🚨 BREAKING: The Peace Churches have officially signed a treaty with Ares, God of War. We’re swapping the "Red Letters" for tactical gear. Press conference at noon! 🚨
(Did you catch it? The joke is so obvious it comes with its own footnote. No decoder required it is April 1st)
Actually, can we talk about why April Fools' Day is the sensory overload of holidays? 🧠👇
1️⃣ For many Autistics like me: Today is basically "Social Rule Violation Day." When you spend 364 days a year working hard to navigate social cues, a holiday built on lying is just... exhausting. A joke that flags itself is fine; a joke designed to make someone feel "stupid" for trusting you is just mean.
2️⃣ For my fellow Christians: Jesus was pretty clear in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:22) that calling someone a "fool" is a serious spiritual red flag. Building a whole holiday around making "fools" out of people feels a bit... un-Jesus-y?
The Verdict: If you’re going to be silly today, make it so ridiculous it couldn't possibly be true. Let’s stick to "telegraphed silliness" instead of "gotcha" moments.
Some jokes are kind enough to introduce themselves. Let’s be kind enough to not make our friends feel small. 🕊️✨
