A Sunday Devotion: God's Rescue Plan

​🌈 God's Rescue Plan (Matthew 2:13)

​Think of it like this: When a fire alarm rings, we listen to the sound and go to the safe spot, right?

​Bible Story: Matthew 2:13 

​“Get up, take the young child and his mother, and run to Egypt... because Herod wants to kill the child.”


​💚 God’s Big Hug: Protection

​In the story, baby Jesus was in danger. A mean king wanted to hurt Him.

  • ​God knew! God sees everything.
  • ​God sent help! An angel came to Joseph with a special job: "RUN!"
  • ​God made a safe way! Joseph listened right away and took Jesus to a safe place. God's love was like a strong shield  around them.

​God does this for us, too. God loves you very, very much. He wants you to be safe and happy forever.

​🌟 God’s Biggest Gift: Jesus

​We all do things that are wrong sometimes (we call this 'sin'). Sin is like a dark, messy wall between us and God. Or a curtain that needs torn in two from top to bottom. It makes us feel bad and separates us from God’s love.

​God didn't want that wall or curtain to stay up! Because of His huge love, He sent His Son, Jesus (John 3:16).

  • ​Jesus came to break the wall down and rip the curtain of division up. 
  • ​He took the 'bad punishment' for all our wrongs.
  • ​He did this so we can always be close to God and live with Him forever.

​Jesus is the safe place God made for us to run to.

​👍 What You Can Do

​Being safe with God is simple.

  1. ​Know you need help: Know that we can't be perfect on our own and sometimes we make awful mistakes and do wrong things (sin).
  2. ​Believe in Jesus: Believe that Jesus is God's Son and that His love, His Grace alone is what saves you.
  3. ​Run to Jesus: Just like Joseph ran to Egypt, you can 'run' to Jesus by trusting and believing in Him with your heart.

​Trusting and believing in Jesus means you can know He is your Good Shepherd, and know He is your best Friend and Protector.

​Dear God,

Thank you for loving me. Thank you for making a safe way by sending Jesus. I believe Jesus died and rose again. I choose to trust Jesus alone today to be my Savior and safe place. I give my life to you now. By your grace show me how to bare good fruit. In other words the good I may do now in your name. Amen.

​ 1. Lifestyle (Health and Wellbeing) ​ The Rhythm: This week I’ve used the Finch app and the Northumbria Office to keep a consistent daily sanctuary. Day 1 – Walk for Autism 2026: Let's Go! 👟♾️

Today is officially Day 1 of the Walk for Autism challenge, and my legs are already warmed up — because I haven't exactly been waiting around! Over the past couple of months I've been quietly clocking up steps ahead of this week, so by the time the official 8-day challenge kicked off this morning (26th March – 2nd April), I'd already built up a bit of momentum. The goal is 10,000 steps a day, every day, raising money for Autism Initiatives — and I'm going into it with a decent head start on the 80,000-step target. If you've seen my fundraiser page, you'll already know why this cause sits so close to my heart. I'm walking for my wife Sarah, for Solomon, Gabriel, Lilianna, and Ezra — a family that is, in every sense, living and breathing neurodiversity every single day. Finding Sanctuary: My Gateway Journey Begins

This week marks the beginning of a six-month journey as I work toward my Bronze Gateway Award. I’ve decided to frame this experience as a 'Sanctuary'—a dedicated time to build a rhythm of health, service, and reflection. ​Over the next 26 weeks, I am committing to a balanced path: supporting my Health and Well-being through the Northumbria Office and the Finch app, and challenging myself to build Self-awareness and connection at the Dad & Me group with Midlothian Sure Start. My days will include mindful nature walks for fitness and the creative outlet of this blog. Most importantly, I’ll be spending my volunteering time planning and completing my  Walk for Autism . This journey isn’t just about ticking boxes for a medal; it’s about intentionally creating a consistent, peaceful routine that supports my autistic profile while giving back to the community. I look forward to sharing the quiet milestones and the steady progress of this path as it unfolds.

Gateway Evidence Week 4

​For a long time, I tried to fit into spaces that weren't built for me. My Personal Challenge for the Bronze Award is in part a commitment to stop masking and start seeking. ​By attending Dad & Me, I am seeking the community help I need to be a regulated parent (it is the February break in Midlothian and Solomon was a bit poorly so we did skip a week). By searching for an ASN-friendly church, I am seeking the spiritual help I need to practice my faith without burnout. This week we went local.
