Rise Against the Arms Trade

For the preservation of our species and to stop bombs being dropped on families and communities it seems sensible we remove the problem. Particularly when said bombs target civilians, journalists, aid and medical personnel.  Either we remove from the equation governments who support this practice, those willing to use said weapons, or those who make such weapons. Or all the above. Or we sit back and allow, as we have for generations, them to terrorise the people. To kill and mame the elderly, men, women, children and innocent babies. To destroy schools, hospitals, and places of worship or community. To destroy entire families and communities. To obliterate nations.  If they do it under the pretenses of just war or open terrorism is of no import to those who suffer under the reign of fire.  My personal vendetta is against the arms trade and governments who sit in the pockets of these violators of humanity. Preachers Against The Bomb

Drop Mics Not Bombs! I am a day late, however, governments, experts, and campaigners from all around the world were preparing to come together to discuss bringing an end to the evil of nuclear weapons, at the 2nd Meeting of State Parties for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. Sunday 26th November, has been declared a global day of action against nuclear weapons by International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN). At Christian CND, we asked our ordained members to publicly show their support for the Nuclear Ban - every major denomination in the UK has spoken out against nuclear weapons, and we are thrilled to see this sentiment echoed in pulpits around the UK. Clergy up and down the UK are speaking out about nuclear weapons. I feel heavy. A sadness swept over me. Life is short. We know not the day, nor the hour. A world in turmoil. A pain in my soul. The candle is burning low. This will all be over one way or another. I seek your peace. A peace the world couldn't give. You have eternity in your hands. When the lights of the world go out - Your light remains. Light of the world Take my burdens. Three Prayers

I have started a project of adapting some of my poems into prayers. This is the first instalment of that project. I will likely adapt it into a book or ebook. Watch this space. Suffering Lord,  Who has all answers?  Surely only you. We often have questions in life. For many questions the faithful answer is "I just don't know". This can be hard for us as we don't have the bigger picture yet. But, just as we see through the glass dimly one day we will see all things face to face. We can argue the impact of free will in answer to some questions. We can argue the power of your infinite light and love to other questions. But, some of the hardest questions are around the issue of suffering. In life all your true pilgrims suffer. Just as all humans. Some daily. Yet they inspire us as they worship you in the storms of life, just as your son who wept, but never waivered. You are not a twisted king. You are not absolutely power hungry. You are not a micro-manager. You are love,

I'm not a royalist, but I do desire that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life. So yes, God save the King, his subjects, allies, and enemies. God save the collective kingdoms of earth. Let them be engulfed by a new and more peaceable kingdom. Whose King came meek and lowly, and is now crowned King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Love, love, love

"All you need is love", the song says, "all you need is love." A simple yet hard truth. A Rabbi once said "Love, the rest is commentary." Yet we struggle in our own strength. In order to truly love God (who is love) and others (who are all created in His image), we best ask Him to be love through us, to be our strength. "Beware of works religion", I hear the hardcore preacher say. Well, let's be very clear, all Christians are called to love and this manifests in fruit. Indeed we are saved by God's grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone, for the glory of God alone. But, this is not so we may warm pews and ignore a broken and needy world at our doorstep.
