🕯️ The Christmas Star and the Way of Peace 🕯️
Dear friends, as we are in this season of waiting, I invite you to join me in reflecting on the gentle power of the Prince of Peace and the quiet Light that guides us still.
"The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." — John 1:5
A Simple Advent Message
Dear friends,
As we light our candles during Advent, we think about a special kind of power. We are waiting for a King who was born in a quiet stable. He did not come with soldiers or weapons. He came as a small, gentle baby. This is the Spirit that cannot fight.
In 1660, George Fox and his friends told the world a great truth. They said that because they followed Jesus, they could no longer use "outward weapons" or go to war. They chose to be like "innocent lambs." Even when people were mean to them or put them in prison, they stayed peaceful.
Today, the world is still full of noise and fighting. It is easy to feel worried about the "plots and fighters" of our time. But we must remember: the Light of Christ that we wait for in Advent is the same Light that lives inside us today if we are His. It does not change.
The "lusts of men"—wanting to own things or be in control—cause wars. But the story of Jesus shows us a different way. It shows us the way of love. When we follow the Light of Christ, our hearts are so full of God's peace that there is no room for hate.
This season, let us be quiet and listen. Let us turn our "swords into ploughshares" (tools for gardening). We do not need to be strong with our fists. We are strong when we are kind and patient, just like Jesus.
A Simple Advent Prayer
Dear Jesus,
Thank You for coming to us in peace.
Thank You for the friends who showed us how to live without fighting.
Help us to be kind and gentle during this time of waiting.
When people are mean, help us to love them anyway.
Help us to help others and seek the good of everyone.
Let Your peaceful Kingdom grow in our hearts.
Amen.
🕊️ A Query for the Week
When the world around me feels loud or full of strife, how can I let the Light of Christ guide me to be a person of peace in my words and my actions?
