What We Need

Things I think the church and the world needs now post pandemic (Edit):

The return of a Gospel message every single Sabbath 

Meeting in informal Roman Villa size gatherings every Sabbath (if grows bigger plant another to infinitum)

Participatory meetings respecting the priesthood of all believers, where no voice is banned and no voice is given the highest honour. Except He who has come to teach us of Himself.

Communion every Sabbath 

Baptism of all new believers as soon as possible 

Assemblies that stir each other up to love and good deeds every Sabbath and go into the world every day to share the good news by word and action.

Above all love.

Happy Autism Acceptance Month!

Thanks to all who supported my walk for Autism Initiatives. My challenge was 80000 steps over 8 days. I managed over 123,385, including a team walk. My personal goal was £50 and I beat this goal well thanks to kind sponsors. As a team, No6 One Stop Shop raised £1,022 + £181.32 GiftAid. Our collective goal was £500. All support has been much appreciated. Donations and sponsorships are still open until end of the month. All contributions of any amount happily received.

Walk for Autism Half Way

Today I joined a team from No6 One Stop Shop (Autism Initiatives) in Edinburgh for a walk. It was a lovely walk toward Inverleith Park near the Botanical Gardens and back again. It was nice seeing the swans and blowing the cob webs away. It did get a little cold due to the partial eclipse of the sun. Link here to todays  photo . Ares or Christós?

What if we aren't the "goodies" after all?  What if propaganda from all sides of all conflicts reveals a darker truth?  There are no heroes only villains and their victims. The broken cisterns of this world are truly overflowing.  There are no righteous, no not one!  There never have been, for all our supposed righteousness is as filthy rags. It is a sad reality that so many, even those of the faith, seem to effectively kneel before Ares.  This idolatry of violence and war is in such contrast to worshiping at the feet of the Prince of Peace.  Sometimes it feels as if the entire world is marching toward destruction and chaos.  Worst of all is that we know the mistakes made in our histories, but we seem to learn nothing from history (other than that we learn nothing).  We do it all again and again.  Sin after sin. Dear fellow Christians, ​This is an open letter about the terrible conflict in Israel and Palestine.  The killing is so hard to watch, and it just breaks our hearts. As followers of Jesus, we have to ask ourselves, "What would Jesus say about all of this?" ​Jesus Wasn't an Israeli or a Palestinian ​Some people involved in this conflict try to claim Jesus for "their side." Time to give up

Lent is often seen as a time of self-sacrifice, a time to give up something costly or even a pet sin that needs laid upon the proverbial altar and put to death. I have been thinking what I could give up this year.  I have tried a few things over the years, from turning vegetarian to ditching social media, with varied success.  Pondering what is toxic for me at this time and what needs given up during lent and even beyond has brought various ideas.  I have seen various no yell challenges on parenting blogs and I do feel that would help on some level. But, even deeper than that is something I have struggled with more and more, anger.  It is not wrong to be angry as such. Jesus was pretty angry when he flipped those tables. But, it is wrong to sin in anger or to be angry unjustly. God is slow to anger and rich in mercy, we should imitate that. I want to be better at that for sure.
