Victory!

Image
Father, true and merciful Thank you for saving a prodigal. Your heart of love shines through You give life fresh and new. In hope I thirst for more Christ is the only victory in this war. The tempter comes knocking How can one as I stop falling? Only by you my rock and shield In your palms my destiny is sealed. Hallelujah my king My heart shall ever sing. Glory and honour to your name Your Salvation is my claim. Amen More poems, links and free downloads at Line of Poetry

What We Need

Image
Things I think the church and the world needs now post pandemic (Edit): The return of a Gospel message every single Sabbath  Meeting in informal Roman Villa size gatherings every Sabbath (if grows bigger plant another to infinitum) Participatory meetings respecting the priesthood of all believers, where no voice is banned and no voice is given the highest honour. Except He who has come to teach us of Himself. Communion every Sabbath  Baptism of all new believers as soon as possible  Assemblies that stir each other up to love and good deeds every Sabbath and go into the world every day to share the good news by word and action. Above all love.  The rest is commentary.

Manna

Image
My life and soul were parched. In a proverbial land of hunger and thirst, despair seemed inevitable. I cried to you like many times before. You, Lord are faithful. Like Moses striking the rock my thirst was quenched. Like Manna from heaven my hunger was satisfied. You are faithful from generation to generation. Blessed be your name. Personality or Character?

Image
Having good character was the great objective. Having good personality became the objective. Good character, like God character, was all about morals. Good personality, like no character, is all about the self. How do I do good? Became How do I look good? Passion Became Performance Genuine article Became Acting a part How things change. It changed. Can it change again?  More at Line of Poetry

Empty Streets

Image
The animal farm Working for humans no more The horses were first *** During the pandemic across the globe as lockdowns happened animals were seen in places not often seen. This got me thinking what it would be like if animals took back bits of earth. It also made me think which animals we have most taken for granted and one most definitely is horses. They are majestic beings, often used for labour and sadly war. More poems at Line of Poetry

Say A Little Prayer 3

Image
And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. (Psalm 50:15) 20/04/2023 Lord, I lift my voice to you. I call for you in times of peace, in-between times, troubling times and times I can't describe. You assure me that you are a strong deliverer, so I look to you. "Because you live I can face tomorrow"* and with saints and angels I will glorify you our hope and refuge. Hallelujah! Amen. * Based on a line from an old gospel hymn that a late friend use to quote sometimes.

Blogblast for Peace Prayer

Image
Abba, Father you tell us in your good book to seek peace and pursue it. Let that be our task this year and going forward. In seeking peace, help us realise how interconnected it is with freedom. Not freedom to sin or hate, but freedom to honour You. For You are love. O Lord, that we would love our neighbours and only do unto others what we would have done to us. For we are all created in Your most Holy image. Teach us to be imitators of Your beautiful Son Yeshua (Jesus), The Prince of Peace. It has been said that You created us to love and be loved. Then let us believe and love, for the rest is commentary. Amen.    *** Written for Blogblast for Peace 2022

Advices and Proverbs

Image
Our eyes they look like galaxies. We are only guests on this earth for a short time. Dust blowing in the sands of time. Vapour that appears for a time, but fades away. For such a time as this let us live and love in the light of these truths. Take each moment as a gift. How lightly we must tread this fine line between life and death. Honour life's fleeting nature in the light of eternity. Do not be indecisive in this life of brevity. To decide not to decide is to decide already.  Let your yay be yay and nay be nay. Choose now who you will serve. The one who calms our every fear or the one who uses it as a weapon? That dream God put on your heart, but fear stopped you, all those what ifs, just feel the fear and do it anyway. Progress is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to walk through it. As we recognise God is our refuge and guide we begin to see we need not be anxious for he has overcome the world. The fear fades in the light of his eternity. He is a lamp unto our feet...

Poetic Rewrite

Image
Original: "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference." ~ Robert Frost ~ Rewrite: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I would have taken the broad way to destruction if it weren't for that blinding light. Instead I was compelled to follow the straight and narrow and He has made all the difference.  ~ DTH ~ *** Inspired by the conversion of St Paul and Jesus' teaching of The Way. Written for a poetry prompt from Poetry Cove that asked us to rewrite a famous poetic quote. More poems at Line of Poetry

A Statement of Faith

Image
 1. Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh, and apart from Him the true God can not fully be known, worshipped, or acknowledged. Jesus is fully revealed as the God who is love and whose gospel is peace.    2. Salvation is by faith in the atoning blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, apart from all human works and character. It is by Grace we are saved not by works, it is a gift from God, obtained through faith.    3. It is the supreme obligation of every saved person to obey the Lord Jesus Christ. We will fail no doubt often in this for we are mere humans - but our aim should be holiness. The two golden rules are to love God and love each other (even to love enemies). This is the kind of active faith that can change the world for the better.    These three points are the pillars of my faith - the deity of Christ, salvation by faith in Him, obedience to His word. Do you believe these three things and if not why not take it into consideration?...

Suffering

Image
Who has all answers?  The faithful answer is that  I just don't know?  Free Will and The Light All pilgrims suffer daily Worship God anyway Not a twisted king   Absolute power hungry Micro managing  Free will is our choice Humans, angels, and demons Creatures and nature  Yes, troubles will come  Not all use free will for good   Lasting negatives World variables  There are good things and bad War: light and darkness Troubles since the Fall Freely, wilfully humans sin Treking east of Eden It's not all judgement Who sinned, man or parents? Born blind for His work Tool of redemption  Not suffering judgement  Jesus eye opener  Light of the world Miraculously heals a man.  Was blind, but now I see. Who has all answers?  The faithful answer is that  Only He surely does *** This poem is based on the following article that I wrote: I don't have all the answers. In fact, the truly faithful answer to some question...

Say A Little Prayer 2

Image
Psalms 46:1 “(To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth.) God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” King James Version (KJV)   12/04/2023  Lord teach me to fellowship. To focus on Jesus. To be silent. To sing. To read scripture - with you by myself and with others. To share. To respond. To live a life of prayer. Teach me to follow you. To find refuge in you in both the calm and storms of life.

Say A Little Prayer 1

Image
See John 14:27 Abba,  Alpha, Omega,  Beginning, End First and Last. I don't always know how to pray as I ought. Sometimes silence works, other times words erupt. Make me passionate about prayer and you, my divine pastor, my shepherd king. Living life and the world in general can feel like shadowlands. We walk in the valley of the shadow of death, but you are with us. I have felt both truths. The verse you gave me as a child still lingers: "Let not your heart be troubled." Amen

Happy Easter!
